Lessons in classical piano from the age of six.
Jazz piano beginning at the age of thirteen; self-taught.
1980-1985 – fine arts education at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin;
private jazz piano lessons with
Prof. Walter Norris, among others.
1985 – MFA in painting. Began
working exclusively as a professional
jazz musician.
1992 – increasing involvement with
composition.
1995 – New York grant from the
Berlin Council on Cultural Affairs;
private lessons with Kenny Werner.

through the Goethe Institute,
including Turkey (Istanbul, Izmir,
Ankara); Israel (Tel Aviv and
Jerusalem); St. Petersburg, Russia;
Helsinki, Finnland; Tallinn, Estonia;
Toronto, Canada (Toronto Jazz
Festival); Nancy, France (Nancy
Pulsations Festival).
